Project Manager
A good PM is organized, but a great PM is organized and knows how to motivate their team while maintaining objectives and deliverables, not to mention team camaraderie. We’re looking for the latter as well as a detail-oriented go-getter that knows how to take the reins and lead. You should be optimistic in nature, but practical at the same time. We need someone who can drive projects from initial concept through launch, work with Account Managers on managing the client relationship, and keep our creative minds inspired and our developers efficient. It’s imperative that you have a strong sense of accountability and bring it every day. It’s your responsibility to manage your projects with a close eye to avoid problems that could potentially jeopardize budget and deliverables. You will help drive, inspire and influence projects and decisions on a daily basis. Knowing and understanding the entire interactive process is crucial for success. We also want someone who can contribute ideas; you don’t have to be a designer to be creative.
A day in the life of the Project Manager:
- The Multitasker: As a Project Manager, you get to touch everything – strategy, design, development, audio, video and QA. As a result, you’ll gain inspiration by the diversity of the work around you, and your team.
- The Risk Mitigator: You’ll need to keep an eye on your project timelines. Whether you prefer MS Project or Omniplan, your timelines are ever-changing as your projects grow and evolve. You also know the perils of scope creep and scope elongation and how to avoid them. You manage risk before it becomes a problem, teaming up with designers and developers to fix things quickly and efficiently. Most importantly, you’ll ensure that our work is best-in-class, on time and on budget.
- The Quarterback: It’s your job to keep everyone in the loop throughout a project’s lifecycle. You’ll coordinate meetings, budgets, contracts and check in with Account Managers and Project Teams to review open projects. For every one of your projects, you will be at its center ensuring everyone is on track, has everything they need, and are working as a cohesive unit to meet upcoming milestones and deliverables.
- The Reporter: Chatting with clients and internal staff can be fun! But don’t forget about the fun(damentals). You should know the importance of documentation – everything from Estimates to Scopes of Work, Proposals and Status Reports need to capture in-detail your client’s sentiments and business needs. Conversation recaps, project specifications and pitches should all be second nature to you.
