Themes
The personalization menu in the control panel is much more intuitive and provides the user with a visual guide for setting up “themes” on the computer. Interestingly, a few years back, this would not have been possible because screen resolutions did not for so much information on a screen.

Libraries
A new feature in Windows 7, “libraries” allows you to view all of your multimedia files without requiring you to keep them in a specific folder. For example, the Pictures library would consolidate pictures scattered throughout your PC into one accessible location.

Folders/My Computer
The new “My Computer” window is mostly unchanged from Vista. A few tweaks to the left sidebar create a marginally cleaner interface. Similar tweaks are visible throughout the new OS.

Windows Networking
The networking menu hasn’t changed TOO much, however it is a little bit easier to understand than Vista’s super confusing panel. This is one of the biggest problem areas for the average home user, so I’m disappointed they didn’t overhaul this section.

If your neighbors couldn't figure out the old networking, they won't be able to figure out the new one. Brace for panicked calls.
